Spinalworks Dallas utilizes multiple therapy modalities.
Each serves a unique purpose and, when properly combined, helps pain minimize and injuries heal very quickly.
We use electric impulse devices for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) and Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS). TENS uses electronic impulses to stimulate nerves which helps keep pain signals from reaching the brain. EMS uses electronic impulses to stimulate muscles which helps with healing, strengthening, and rehabilitation.
Ice and Heat
Probably the most underutilized forms of therapy, ice and heat are simple yet effective methods in treating injuries and reducing pain. Ice helps decrease inflammation and swelling by reducing blood flow and is commonly used on acute injuries. Heat helps decrease muscle stiffness and loosen tissues by increasing blood flow and is commonly used on chronic injuries such as muscles spasms and joint stiffness.
Once pain has been reduced or eliminated, resistance exercises with the assistance of bands and/or weights are used to strengthen the muscles holding the spine in place. A key component in maintaining postural integrity and keeping eliminated pain from returning.
Being the gold standard for conservative disc treatment, this modality intermittently stretches and relaxes the spine in a controlled manner to relieve pressure between spinal discs. Used often for disc herniations, disc bulges, sciatica, pain into the arms and hands, numbness, tingling, weakness, and burning. An affordable treatment option for option for patients looking to avoid surgery. <more info on Spinal Decompression>
